Working on SEO (search engine optimization) to drive business opportunity leads to your home based business is a lot of hard work. You do this though because the rewards are great when you get a top position in the search engines. During that process of driving your web site to higher rankings though, you will probably experience the “yo-yo” factor…especially if you are pursuing higher level type keywords.
Okay, you have begun the process of SEO to get high search engine rankings. I have got to tell you, if you are doing anything remotely correct, your competition might be 50 million but you will easily rise to the top of the first 2-3 hundred positions. The reason is that for the most part, many of the people you are competing with “do not know what they are doing”! Many of those sites might just be personal sites or hobbies for some people.Whatever the reason, in actuality there are much fewer sites than you think that you are in competition with.
However, now you begin the process of competing against those who “do” know what they are doing. If you stay active with your SEO and keep on top of things every day, you will start to creep up in the rankings.
Sometimes you will see your site make major leaps and literally jump pages while it is rising to the top. This process takes more than hours or days. Usually it takes weeks and months to rise up. Again this is based on how well you are doing your SEO.
About the “yo-yo” effect…I have not heard anyone talk about it but one of my friends and I have experienced it on multiple occasions.When your web site is rising to the top, all of a sudden it will take a plummet. Say that you are on page four of Google in the search engine rankings. You are monitoring your site every day and then suddenly, you see it drop to maybe page eight or nine.
When this happens and you have spent many man hours working with it, it will freak you out!
Be patient as it will soon dramatically rise and usually leap ahead of where it was originally. The many times I have seen this yo-yo thing happen, it was always a good thing. You will experience it several times until you get to the top of the Seeps (search engine ranking pages). I’ve got to tell you though, the first time you experience this (especially the first couple of times), you will be thinking all kinds of thoughts. You will be thinking you did something wrong and got penalized for it. Basically though, it is a good thing. Obviously, it has something to do with the algorithms that are in play.
